Jesse Motlop certainly turned heads in his first year in the Navy Blue, managing 12 games in his maiden AFL season.
Living up to his family name, the cheeky goal-sneak was electric in the forward line, kicking 12 goals in his 12 games, earning a Goal of the Year nomination in the process.
Motlop’s forward pressure was a hallmark of his game, ranking 15th in the competition for tackles inside 50 per game – a key area of focus for Carlton’s new-look ‘mosquito fleet’ under Michael Voss.
Heading into his second season at the elite level, Motlop will aim to take his natural football talents and flair a step further.
The No.10 pick in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft came to Carlton with calmness and elegance a feature of her game. The half back flanker grew in confidence with every game she played for the Game Changers this summer, with the classy ball user primed to set the league alight this August. With the support of captain Kerryn Harrington and three-time All-Australian Gab Pound around her, Annie Lee is sure to be yet another asset to Carlton’s defence for the future.
